VLC packs all media codecs into the software so you don't have to individually update a codec when an update is available.
The VLC software handles the updating process for you, downloading and installing the codec for use with your media files.
I have not yet been able to do much testing with this. So I'm convinced my system is powerful enough to play these movies, but something codec-related is wrong with my XBMC video player. I went in yesterday and updated my video card drivers (audio is output through video card HDMI) and Direct X (even though I don't think it was relevant ..
As a test, I closed out of XBMC and loaded the video in windows media player (even the .mkv). just saw it in a related post) but nothing changed.
The update pack below can be used to keep your current installation up-to-date.
VLC is a freeware media player capable of playing virtually all media formats and codecs used with media files.
When its a beautiful HD video, this little glitch sticks out HORRIBLY.
Also, when playing one specific file, I get an error saying it was unable to initialize the audio device.
What happens is every 10 seconds or so, the playback seems to stutter ..
as if I was streaming a video and it lost signal for a second.
I'm sure there's been others with this problem but whenever I search on "XBMC Video playback stuttering", I get everyone saying the playback is constantly stuttering and it's usually their system isn't powerful enough to play the movies.
